Meet the Women at PAB Studios

International Women’s Day is an important day on the calendar for all of us, whether you’re hosting a mini party to celebrate or simply getting involved in the conversations!

Today is all about celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, whilst raising awareness about the gender equality that’s still prevalent across the globe. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on how far women have come and identify ways we can help to break the bias.

There are lots of incredible women at PAB Studios, and we’re unbelievably proud to have them all in our team!

We asked them some questions to find out what today means to them and highlight just how brilliant they are.

  1. 1. Why do you think it’s important to celebrate international Women’s Day?

Despite this progress, evidence suggests that many women remain unable to achieve their goals. The gap in earnings between women and men, although smaller than it was years ago, is still significant; women continue to be underrepresented in certain industries and occupations; and too many women struggle to combine aspirations for work and family.

  2. 2. If you could have dinner with three women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

    • Mary Portas – just because she’s so fabulous at retail, fashion and marketing.
    • Maya Angelou – she was an Aries like me and an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist.
    • Emmeline Pankhurst – Although she wasn’t perfect, she demanded equality for woman as the leader of the suffragette movement.
  3. 3. What is your proudest achievement?

Being successful and my own boss after being brought up skint in a single-parent family environment.

  1. 1. Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

This is a time for people to remember the brave women that have shaped our future. As well as to remind all the women of today who may be in a difficult situation that they are not alone. 💪

  2. 2. If you could have dinner with three women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

    • Our QUEEN – I’ve always been a fan of the monarchy since I was a little girl. I think its great that women in the UK today have had the experience of a Queen in power. Our Queen is elegant and strong and admired by many. 👑
    • JACINDA ARDERN – (Prime Minister of New Zealand) – Jacinda is one of the countries youngest Prime Minister in over 150 years, she is a clever, compassionate woman who has earned so much praise in the world today. 🙏
    • My DAUGHTER – this sounds silly, but as a mother of a 12 year old, all I seem to get at the moment are grunts and few words. it would be fantastic to actually sit with her and have a conversation, plus the Queen would ask her to sit up straight. 😜
  3. 3. What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is being where I am today. I grew up in poverty and the most common path for people with similar backgrounds is to follow suit. I was determined to break the cycle so ensured I stayed in education and studied while all my friends partied.

Through the hard work and determination, I graduated University, started an amazing career doing what I love, had 2 wonderful children in between and managed to buy my own house. Every evening when I pull onto my drive I give myself a little pat on the back. (before the chaos commences again) 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

  1. 1. Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

I think it’s important to celebrate how far and how hard women have had to (and still) fight to have equality, socially and economically. It’s celebrates the achievements women have made!

  2. 2. If you could have dinner with three women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

    • Annie Lennox – She launched Global Feminism and states that everybody (men and women) should be part of it, plus I grew up listening to her!
    • Amelia Earhart – Just because I think she must have been so brave to fly solo across the Atlantic, I’d love to know what she thought about it when she was up in the air!!
    • Amelia Earhart – I think she is just magic and truthfully would be a blast to have at any dinner party!
  3. 3. What is your proudest achievement?

Soppy but true – being a Mam to 2 very strong, determined and kind little girls.

  1. 1. Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

Because “Man may work from sun to sun, but woman’s work is never done.”

  2. 2. If you could have dinner with three women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

The Queen, Oprah Winfrey & Katherine Ryan. I think although the backgrounds of these women are vastly different, it would be interesting to understand their views on life as a woman.

  3. 3. What is your proudest achievement?

Getting myself to where I am today!

  1. 1. Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

Women have literally made history with how they’ve fought to be seen as equals and those achievements are some which should always be remembered and celebrated! But there’s also a long way to go in terms of equality so it’s a good opportunity to bring awareness to these issues as well.

  2. 2. If you could have dinner with three women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

I honestly don’t know! There’s too many to choose from 😅

  3. 3. What is your proudest achievement?

    Buying a house!

  1. 1. Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

Gender inequality is still prevalent across the globe. There is still a lot of unconscious bias that is preventing women moving forward and there’s still a lot that needs to change!

  2. 2. If you could have dinner with three women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

Princess Diana, Britney Spears and Emma Watson… I feel like they’d all have interesting stories to tell from their own experiences of being a woman! Emma Watson has always been outspoken in the fight for women’s rights.

  3. 3. What is your proudest achievement?

Graduating with a Distinction in my Masters degree!
